XReate

Project duration

1.9.2023–30.9.2025

Project description

The international XReate project strengthens the skills of vocational education teachers and students in the digital era. The goal of the project is to explore how the metaverse can be utilized in international collaboration between schools. The research question is: How can we prepare for the implementation of education in the metaverse?

In the project, the metaverse refers to a digital twin and a virtual campus. The foundation of the project is a 3D scan created at Talland College in Purmerend, the Netherlands. The aim is to scan a space, a so-called digital twin, from each partner school where virtual learning experiences can be piloted.

At the final stage of the project, it will be possible to explore the digital twin through an online environment. Visitors can also explore the digital campus with VR headsets, providing an immersive and interactive experience.

The project is coordinated by GBS St. Gallen from Switzerland, and in addition to Educational Consortium OSAO, its co-implementers are IES El Rincón from Spain, Talland College from the Netherlands, and Newcastle College from the United Kingdom.

The project is funded by Movetia, the Swiss exchange and mobility agency, which is financed by the Swiss Foundation for the Promotion of Exchanges and Mobility (SFAM).
